Focus throw

Focus throw’ is the term commonly used for referring to the amount of focus ring rotation needed between minimum focus distance and infinity focus.

On average, older lenses tend to have longer focus throws, whereas more modern (especially auto focus) lenses tend to have shorter focus throws. A long focus throw (> 180 º) is typically seen to facilitate precise manual focusing.
