Dear readers.

I’ve been silent for a while, as my father passed away in mid-September. Both the weeks immediately before his passing as well as the weeks since have been rather too busy for me to be able to find much time for JAPB (especially as Sept–Oct is always the busiest part of my working year).

I’m not going to be spreading many details here, especially as my father preferred to keep his cards close to the chest. But there is one aspect I want to share:

My father was diagnosed with cancer already more than three years ago. At that time the cancer had already spread and was fundamentally inoperable. However, he took his treatments and while his last three years were in many ways heavy for him, there were many happy, joyful moments that we managed to share. I hope that these pictures1 illustrate some of them and that everyone who has received a bad diagnosis has a chance to savour whatever time that remains.

Dearest father, husband and grandfather – you are sorely missed.

(This being a site about legacy lenses, I’m only posting pictures that feature legacy/manual lenses or analog photography.)

  1. I’ve aggressively cropped to keep young family members from appearing online, but some of the pictures also feature my mother (with her permission). ↩︎
